We all know I’ve got oily skin and my face gets super oily throughout the day. At least I think I’ve talked about it enough to make it seem like the whole world knows. But my body is a different story. It gets so dry, especially after a shower or bath, that I just have to use products to seal the moisture in. Winter time is the worst, and I was really looking forward to the summer time because then I wouldn’t have to worry about the dryness on my skin. Right? Nope. At least not this summer.
It hasn’t always been this way. I think my living in Utah now (moved here almost 2 years now) still freaks my skin out. It’s dry here all year round and it’s taken a toll on my skin. I’ve noticed dry patches on my skin where I’ve never seen before; my body is itchy every time after a shower/bath; and my skin feels rough. And I feel so sad every time I look at my skin and feel that it’s no longer its original feel. It’s time to admit that I need a product to help my skin out.
I’ve always been intrigued by Sol de Janeiro’s Bum Bum Cream, so I was super excited to see a sample of it in my June Sephora Play! box. My first observation about this product was the scent. OMG it is heavenly when I first open the cute little tub of cream. I dipped my finger in the cream and noticed its cool, lightweight, yet buttery feel. I thought, “this feels heavenly. What sort of sorcery is this? How can it be buttery yet lightweight at the same time??” Then I just lathered it all over myself. And holy Jesus. My skin felt amazing. The cream absorbed super quickly into my skin and left no residue. I immediately noticed how smooth my skin looked and felt. And what’s better is that I am not longer itching all over my body after my shower. It was love at first touch.
What I did notice after that, though, is the overwhelming and lingering scent. It fills my nostrils and blinds my sense of scent. I can definitely see how people can complain about it, even though it smells so good at first. Subtlety is more my thing when it comes to a product’s scent.
Overall, I am super in love with this. I love that it’s so lightweight and leaves no product/greasy residue, so I am not afraid of rubbing the product all over my furniture or clothes. Also because it’s so lightweight and leaves no greasy residue, it’s the perfect body cream during the summer time. I do have to caution how overwhelming the scent can be. I mean, I can still smell it on me the next day when I’m at work. For me, though, this cream has been so great to my body that it’s an all over “YAAAAAAASSSSSSSS” for me.
Do you also have dry skin? What do you use to keep the itching at bay?
